[Stella Loves] Kaleidoscope lampshades from Archie Mac London
Warning: this post includes a fantastic offer exclusive to Stella + the Stars readers... Read on to find out more...
I am hopelessly addicted to Instagram and I got to the point where I could seriously do with some #instarehab. If my phone is out of battery half way through the day, I get palpitations like my life depends on it... If I don't Instagram for 24 hours, I get messages from worried people asking if I am ok (you know like, texts - totally crazy, and so 2010...)
But there are worse things to be addicted to, non? Well, that's what I tell myself to feel better... And thankfully, Instagram is not just about pointless scrolling down and double tapping beautifully filtered images of people's latest holidays. What I love the most about the platform is how it's become a hub for creative people, especially in the world of interior design. I get inspired every day by Instagrammers and it's really helped me getting myself out there too when I launched Stella + the Stars and Le Blog earlier this year. I have also 'met' some amazing people: artists, fellow interiors addicts, independent shop owners, designers... Fascinating people and makers I would have probably never come across in 'real life'.
This week I'd like to enlighten you and introduce my latest design crush - Archie Mac London - a new brand of quirky and unique home accessories created by Robyn Parker. This lovely lady from London is on a crusade against beige which is, as you know, right up my street!
I fell in love with her fabulous lampshades as soon as I spotted them. All handmade and using the most funky and colourful kaleidoscopic patterns, they have that quirky 'off the beaten track' style that we love here, at Stella + the Stars. Her passion lies in rescuing old lampshades from local second hand shops and bringing them back to life. There is a lovely story behind her designs too. All the unique kaleidoscopic patterns she created are based on her great granddad Archie MacMillan's 100-year old drawings she randomly found whilst looking for family photos.
Most of the designs are made with crushed velvet and I don't know about you but I am all over the pom-pom trim.... Prices start at £45 for the drum lampshades and the vintage looking designs are available from £150 .
A bespoke service to create your own Archie Mac London lampshade is also available. All you need to do is choose your frame, the design and fabric, and the size and off you go!
And Robyn's success is only just starting. She was recently commissioned to create a permanent lampshade installation in the heart of Camden Market, which launched last week. So if you happen to live in London Town you can discover her creations in the flesh. And to celebrate this fantastic new installation, Archie Mac London is offering Stella + the Stars readers an EXCLUSIVE 10% DISCOUNT on the entire collection available online. To take advantage of the offer, visit www.archiemaclondon.co.uk and just enter the code 'STELLA10' at checkout. This offer will run until 31 August 2015.
And if you're not in the market for a new lamp, Robyn also designs beautiful cushions, armchairs and accessories.
Ready to join the crusade against beige? See you at the virtual checkout! And happy shopping of course!
