Stella + the Stars goes gaga over A Little Lovely Company
There are a handful of quirky items (usually gold or bright pink!) that have helped adding a little je ne sais quoi to my homes throughout the years, with some pieces even defining my style. In my London pad, it was a pink custom made neon sign that read 'amour' which was the piece de resistance of my sitting room. In my Dubai house (we moved from the UK just 18 months ago), it's safe to say that it's the pink neon heart light I bought to complete my gallery wall.
It's the final touch I added my lounge and I constantly get asked where it's from. As you know, my style is quite, erm, how to put it, playful (?!) so you won't be surprised if I tell you that it's from an actual kids accessories company A Little Lovely Company... [insert monkey emoji covering its eyes here].
So imagine my delight when Caramel & Sun, the exclusive distributor of the A Little Lovely Company brand here in the UAE, and my go-to place for kids home decor, asked me to become their 'brand ambassador'... Let's just say that it took all of two nanoseconds to say 'hell, yeah! I am in'. So as school kicked off a few weeks ago, so did our little collaboration. What does it mean, I hear you ask? Well, in the next few weeks, here and on my Instagram feed, I'll be featuring their collection of lighting accessories, from cool light boxes, to cloud neon signs, to pineapple night lights... So you can too fall in love with everything they do.
To start the festivities, Stella and I received a few pieces from their new range (I literally adore every single design!) to style in her bedroom at home. It was ridiculously fun to try their accessories and lights, and they fit so nicely with her existing room decor.
To give you a little bit of backstory, A Little Lovely Company is a fun and creative brand of light boxes, neon lights, garlands, cool word banners and children's accessories that are as beautifully designed as they are affordable. And the brain child of two Dutch super-mums Judith de Ruijter and Nikki Hateley (who have 7 kids between them!). Here in Dubai you can find their fab range of products from Caramel & Sun, one of their many lovely retailers across the GCC. If you don't know this gorgeous store please stop immediately whatever you're doing (well reading this post!) and head to www.caramelandsun.com. It's possibly one of the coolest boutique in the sandpit that stocks (in store at Mercato Mall and online) fabulous kids decor and accessories, including some of my kids interiors faves La Tete dans le Bocal, Les Gambettes, and Childhome. And did I mention that the store was founded by another two French mumtrepreneurs who not only have the most exquisite taste but are two of the nicest ladies in the business?!
The 'love' pink neon in the above image is my new favourite thing. It's kid-friendly as it's made of an LED tube so doesn't heat up and adds the loveliest pink glow to the room. We also added the star string lights to her book shelf.
We moved the Love neon light next to Stella's bed as she now uses it as a night light, we added the cloud, star and pineapple night lights for good measure, and I tried to come up with a witty slogan for her new light box and this quote from Titanic is all I could think of... On her bed we added a Popsicle cushion, and the silicon colouring placemats (designed in collaboration with Super Petit) are a new favourite - you can wash them off and colour them again and again...
Maison Sadaah, who stocks some gorgeous handmade Moroccan rugs here in Dubai were kind enough to let us use their Amira cream and pink Beni Ourain rug. I love it so much I am tempted to have it in my office! It just completes the look of the room. And as always, everything has been beautifully captured by photographer extraordinaire Karen Pissarra from Design K.
What do you think of Stella's newly accessorised bedroom? Did you already know A Little Lovely Company? Would love to hear your thoughts on how we styled their new collection in the comments below...
